Sleep Study

A few days before Thanksgiving, Benjamin had a sleep study done. Jon and I have been concerned about his tonsils for awhile now. When you look in his mouth, they are huge. He also has not
been sleeping as well as he usually does for months now. His pediatrician ordered a sleep study before a consult with an ENT. So we packed up our bags and Ben and I got to sleep over at the hospital. He did great. He was all excited until the tech actually wanted to put the wires on him. He sat in my lap while she started and then to show him how exciting it was I told him that we should take pictures. This made him less nervous and he sat in the chair and let her finish. Once he was in bed and the tech left he was out like a light. She came in several times throughout the night because he would move and the wires would pull or he would pull the thing out of his nose and mouth and she would have to come in a replace it. She woke us up at 5:30 and we headed home after he was dewired. We got his results back about a week later. He is waking up about 6 times per hour and his oxygen level goes down to 90% about half the night. After trying to get a follow-up appointment Jon pulled the Doctor card and made a consult appointment with the ENT. On the 20th we'll see what the Doctor has to say. It's looking like he'll need his tonsils and adenoids out. Hopefully by doing this he'll be able to breath better and sleep better at night.
