Memorial Day

We had a good Memorial Day this year. It started with a Pancake Breakfast our ward put on. I'm on the Activities Committee so I was at the church bright and early, Jon and Benjamin came later-just for the food. We had a pancake eating contest which was fun to watch and then I got to help paint stars, flags, and hearts on the children's faces. I put a flag on Ben's face, lets just say that when I got home from cleaning up, the flag was gone. Ben enjoyed it, but I don't this dad did. Later, we had a little BBQ at our house with some of Jon's classmates and their families. It was a nice time to get to spend time together as a family without Jon having to go off to school.

Strong National Museum of Play

Earlier this month we went to the Strong National Museum of Play with some of our friends. Emily had never been and brought little Connor and Lisa brought her two boys. Benjamin loves it, he is able to run around and touch whatever he wants without me always saying 'NO.' They also have plenty of things for him to do. There is a small Wegmans, a local grocery store, with carts just his size. He loves to push the cart around and put a few items in the cart and then put them on the conveyor belt and check out. We spend at least 30 minutes at the Wegmans. They also have a train set next to the big train. We usually spend a good 45 minutes in the train section. There are so many more fun things for Ben to see and play with I just can name them all. However, it has become a favorite activity of ours and we try to go once a week.

Tag I'm It

How To Play This Game of Tag: Post these rules on your blog. List: 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random surprising facts about yourself. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog!

3 JOYS:

1. Family, especially Jon and Benjamin.
2. Spring, I love that winter is finally coming to an end and the lawn is getting cut right now...ahhh, fresh cut grass.
3. Fresh fruit, I can't wait until Ben and I get to go pick fruit again.

3 FEARS:

1. Fire, I fear that one day my house will burn down.
2. Wasps, we have them all over the place here and when I see one I run and scream. Who would think I could handle an epidural just fine, but yet I'm afraid to get stung.
3. Death, I mostly fear being left behind all by myself.

3 GOALS:

1. Dental Hygiene, it make take me years, but slowly I will get my degree.
2. Vacations, just with Jon at least every other year for the rest of our lives...without children.
3. Lose weight, I'd like to lose a few more pounds so I can have a little extra lea weigh for when I get pregnant again.

3 Obsessions/Collections:

1. Series, I have to have all the books in a series, or movies in a series, even if I don't care for it too much.
2. Frames, I have a lot of picture frames all over the house. When we were first married Jon didn't like that I had pictures of us all over the house, but now that we have filled most of them with pictures of Benjamin I think he's starting to handle it ok.
3. Pots, I love to have plants all around in the house in cool looking pots. A few that I have are homemade ones my older brother, Adam, made in high school/college.

3 Random Facts:

1. Movies, if I start a movie I have to finish it. Even when it's the worst movie possible I still have to finish and see what happens, sometimes I'll just fast forward through it so I can sorta get what's going on and then watch the last 10 minutes.
2. Candy, my siblings use to tease me when I was younger because I would count my candy to make sure no one would ever take any of it. I LOVE to eat candy, but at the same time I love to savor it and make it last.
3. Yellow Belt, I took a self-defense class when right before my mission with my step-mom Jan. We both got our yellow belts in the process.

I'm tagging Shelly, Emily, Jamie, Katie, and Amy

Highland Park

This past week Benjamin and I went to Highland Park with our friends to eat lunch and look at the beautiful flowers. We had the picnic planned for a couples days, so when the weather turned cold we debated whether to go or not. With all in favor we still adventured out to Highland Park. It was a little cloudy and while we were in the middle of our lunch, it began to snow. At first we thought it might be the flowers from the trees, but when they started to land on us and we had a closer look we knew it was snow. I don't think the kids cared at all about the weather. While most of the children were off playing together, guess where Ben was? Yup, all by-himself pushing his stroller around. After lunch we walked around a little bit and got a few pictures. Because it was cold we only stuck it out for a little while. I think we'll go back sometime this coming week with Jon before the Lilac festival and too many people are there to enjoy the park. Hopefully it will be a little warmer

Eating Lunch Outside

Lately Benjamin has been too busy playing outside to come in and eat. I have found though, that if I put a plate of food outside on the porch he will usually take a break and eat his lunch. It's so cute to watch him. He seems to enjoy watching what is going on outside while eating his lunch. You may not be able to tell, but in the pictures below Ben has his arms folded as if he is blessing his food.
