Boo-Boo's

Andrew had a little accident yesterday, which lead us to the Emergency Department. Jon and Benjamin were out home teaching and Andrew was at home with me. I decided to take a break from preparing my lesson for Seminary and play with Andrew. He has been walking with confidence for over a week now and was walking towards our train table when he lost his balance, caught the edge of my foot, and fell into the table. I didn't catch him in time and as you can see from the pictures he made contact. Since Jon was gone I took him over to a friends to see what he thought about taking him in for stitches. He thought he would be fine, but when Jon got home he was concerned and thought it needed to be looked at, especially since it was on his, he thought it might need stitches. So on an adventure I went. I don't know all the rules with military health care so after an hour or so we ended up at the hospital. We were seen right away and given the option of glue or stitches. Since they sedate kids at the hospital for stitches and I would have been there a lot longer I opted for the glue. Cosmetically, they are about the same. It just takes longer to heal with the glue. Andrew wasn't a fan, even though they numbed it a little. He didn't like being held down. But all is well. We just have to keep sunscreen or a hat on him whenever we are outside for the next 6 months. Poor little guy. I hope he doesn't have to go through too many of these, because he does not handle pain well, unlike Benjamin who seems to have a high pain tolerance. Despite the incident he seems to be in good spirits.

Andrew - Update

Andrew is 1 and we had his one year check up the other day. He weighs 22 lbs. and is 30 in. He has 10 almost 12 teeth now. The doctor noticed that he has a little heart murmur. She said it isn't anything to be worried about. She did let me know a few signs that if I do see them I can become concerned. At his 15 month check-up she said they will run a few test to rule a few possibilities out. He also got 4 shots, which he does not handle well. I had to tell him to breath because he was so upset that he was doing that crying thing without making noise and turning so red. The nurse was nice and gave him a little sucker which he went quiet very quickly after I popped that thing in his mouth. He is walking, like a champion. Yesterday he started walking with confidence without reaching for the wall or furniture. He has been feeding himself for about a month now. Loves whole milk, fruit (bananas), pancakes, and treats of any kind. He goes to bed so well. I think he loves the routine of reading a story with Ben, even if he doesn't listen, saying prayers, giving kisses and then going to bed. If we try to put him down before this routine he cries and cries. He loves being outside. Anytime Benjamin goes outside he has to be outside too. Even though he just sits on the porch and watches, he loves being out there. He says baba, nana, mama, and dada. He waves hello, espescially when he is very excited to see us. He loves to play peek-a-boo, calp his hands on command, and gives kisses. His kisses are actually pretty good, they aren't as open mouthed as Ben's were and on most occasions he makes the kissing noise. We love having him in our family. He has a great personality which makes us smile and love him more. We are blessed to have him. We love you Andrew!

Halloween

October is a pretty busy eventful month. Not only is it Andrew's birthday, but it's Halloween. We had several events to go to this year. We of course went to the annual Trunk-or-Treat. Filled with games, food, and candy. Ben did most of the games, including a cake walk which took hi mover 10 minutes to finally get a cupcake. Then he went with a few of the young women around for Trunk-or-Treating. The young men in our ward also held a carnival to help raise money for girls camp. It included more games, food, and candy. Jon needed to study so I just took Ben and left Andrew with Jon. We then had the actual night of Halloween. I took the boys to go do a little trick-or-treating. Ben really had fun running up to the doors and saying "Trick or Treat", it was a little weird because a few of the houses took pictures of the kids that came to their door. They were old ladies so I wasn't sure if I should object or not. I tried to get some cute photos of the boys on our front porch. I need a new camera badly, but I got a few cute shots. It was hard too because our neighbors across the street were setting up a movie and popcorn, the boys were so intrigues that they refused to look at me. But I got several shots. Sorry there are a lot, but I just had to share. They look so cute!

Randoms - September 2010

September flew by for us. With me starting up Seminary again, and Benjamin starting up school we were pretty busy with those. On weekends we would either do to Six Flags or Sea World, but the month was pretty uneventful. Jon and I both celebrated our Birthdays. I hit the milestone of 30. It felt like overnight I started to feel old. I still don't know what to think, or how I feel about this age. Starting a new decade. Hmmm. Jon turned 32. It's amazing that as you get older birthdays don't seem to really matter. Since we didn't know what we each wanted to get for our birthdays, we both gave each other money. Mine was in a form of a gift card and Jon just transferred money over to his savings account. We are such boring people I told Jon.

Jon had been wanting to take Benjamin in the backyard and go camping. So he bought a tent and when it was finally cool enough he set it up in the backyard, blew up the air mattress, waited until dark, and took Ben camping. It didn't get dark till about 9:30 or so. We let Ben stay up and watch a movie, and then the two headed outside. Ben got so excited that he was jumping all over the place. He kept playing with the flashlight and talking with Jon. I headed to bed around 10:30 and I couldn't hear anymore noise. Jon didn't sleep well, the air mattress leaked. And then early that morning a noisy car left the neighborhood which woke Ben up. They were both tired the next day, but it seemed worth it to Ben to spend time with his dad doing something different. We'll see how many more camping adventures these two have together.

Andrew's 1st Birthday!

I can't believe that a year has gone by and that Andrew is 1! His birthday was uneventful. We went to church and when we came home he, or should I say Benjamin, opened presents. Jon wanted him to be able to play with them for awhile before he went for a nap or to bed for the evening. He mostly just stared as Ben opened the presents and even cried a little when he heard the paper ripping. He seemed to interact with most of them before he got tired and went down for a nap. After dinner we sang Happy Birthday and had cake. I made his little cake out of cupcakes. I probably should have experiment before actually doing his cake, but he's only one so I figured he wouldn't be too judgmental. I tried a new thing called poured fondant, it was a little too hot and the buttercream and part of the cake melted so it was a little lopsided. Plus, I was in a terrible mood, struggling mentally with some Seminary issues, so when I was decorating the cake, it showed. Overall it turned out pretty cute, and I don't think Andrew really cared or even noticed. He just cared about eating it. He chowed that thing down and LOVED it. I think he wanted more, but we didn't want him on a sugar high, or too much of one, before bed. Being Halloween, and Sunday, we did dress the boys up and went and did a little trick-or-treating. By the time the day was over Andrew went to bed exhausted! We are glad to have him in our family. He's been a joy. Happy Birthday Andrew!
