Jon had a couple of days off this past week. We did a little house work, we're building tree rings around our trees, and then for fun took the boys to Houston for a little day trip. We left early Friday morning, granted it wasn't too horrible leaving early since both boys were up at 6 anyway. We made the 3 1/2 hour drive with much success. Benjamin had his books to read, trains to play with, and his Leap Frog Tag Jr. to keep him occupied on the ride down, plus he slept for an hour until we stopped for Jon to get a drink. Andrew did well, until the last 30 minutes or so. We had lunch at Whataburger before heading over to the Space Center. Ben was so excited to go that anytime we stopped the car he asked if we were there. He loved the Kids Space Place, he needed Jon's help at first, but once he was comfortable to play on his own he was up and down that thing. They had a lot of hands on things for him to play with. We saw a couple of movies with Rockets going up in the sky, which he LOVED! As we left we got him a little momentum, a plastic Space Shuttle. He has been playing with it constantly since we left. We then headed over to one of our favorite resturants, Cheeburger Cheeburger, unfortuanently our GPS wasn't working that great so instead of taking us an hour to get there it took us 2 1/2 hours. But the food was just as good as we remembered and the boys were doing well in the car. We enjoyed our meal and headed home. Since Ben was a good boy we let him watch two movies on the way home. He fell asleep about an hour before we got home, at 10:30. It was a fun day. If we would have spent the night I think I would officially call it a Family Vacation, but since we didn't I think it was a great Family Day Trip.
Jon and Ben walking on a beam. It had the illusion that you were up in the sky.
Ben playing with one of the many hands on things. Such pure joy he seems to have with any flying object.
You got to sit in this and experience the small space that the Astronauts sit in when taking off. It was a little awkward for Ben to lay there.
Andrew enjoying his time at the Space Center.
