USS Lexington

Jon had a day off on Tuesday so we headed to Corpus Christi and took Benjamin and Andrew to the USS Lexington. Apparently it's referred to as the "Blue Ghost" because of the color it was painted and the Japanese had reported it destroyed several times for it to come back into battle. It's also the ship they used to film the movie Pearl Harbor. Ben enjoyed going around the whole ship and seeing everything. He really seemed to enjoy exploring. We also headed to the flight deck where all the planes were. He wasn't up to getting his picture taken much so we got what we could. It's amazing how big these ships are, what it takes to run them, and how many people were on them. I'm always amazed at what these men had to go through during WWII. It's nice to know that the military has come so far in trying to protect our troops. Yet it's still sad at what cost we get to have our freedoms. If only everyone could appreciate them and the sacrifice they give.
